Day Trip to Explore Historic Rockland (9:00 am - 4:00pm)

Location: Historical Society, 20 Zukor Rd., New City, NY

Details:

The Historical Society of Rockland County is pleased to announce a 5-part series of historic Rockland County daytrips.  Each trip will include presentations from local historians. 

The series kicks off on Saturday, April 28th with a tour to explore the rich history of Orangetown, NY with Town Historian Mary Cardenas.  From the story of Andre and Arnold, to the early recording studio of Bruce Springsteen, there is something for everyone on this trip. Guests will see famous houses, churches and points of interest and includes a stop midday for a gourmet lunch at The ‘76 House in Tappan. After lunch, the tour will continue with stops at the two historic buildings that make up the Orangetown Historical Museum and Archives.

The Trip begins at The Historical Society at 9:00am and returns at 4:00pm; trip fee is $65 per person,  and $60 per person for members of the HSRC and includes bus transportation, guided tour with the Town Historian and a gourmet lunch.

Get creative this winter! RoCA’s School for the Arts presents an exciting variety of short term classes and workshops taught by professional artist instructors in fully equipped studios. Courses for all ages begin Sunday, March 4, 2012 and are available mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Classes for Adults include, The Art of Pastel, Agateware Technique: Throwing with Colored Clay, Art Fabric and Making Silver Jewelry.

Classes for Teens and Children include, Comic Drawing (ages 10-13), Exploring Sculpture (ages 9-12), Dream Houses: Mini Dollhouse Workshop (ages 7-11) and Clayworks (ages 4-6).
