7th Annual REACH Foundation Fun Run/Walk (8:00 am - 12:00pm)

Location: Joseph T. St. Lawrence Center/Torne Valley Sports Complex 115 Torne Valley Road, Hillburn, NY

Details:

Runners and Walkers of all ages are invited to join in the day’s activities.  The 5K, first race of the day, will begin at 8am, scored by Elite Racing Systems; awards will be given in 5 different age categories (i.e. 20-24, 25-29).  The Sunshine Memorial Run for Kids, a 1mile race for children grades k-5 will begin at 9:30am and will be followed by the Family 1Mile Walk, all ages welcome, at 10:30am.  Participation fees are as follows: 5K - $25, Sunshine Memorial Run - $20, Family Walk - $10 Adults/ $5 Children.  All pre-registered runners will receive t-shirt and goody bag, pre-registered walkers will receive t-shirt.  In addition to the races there will be face painting, a bouncy castle and games for the whole family.
 
The REACH Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that raises funds to support innovative educational programs for students and the community at large within the Ramapo Central School District.

As a young artist, Philip Koch was inspired from painting abstractions to working in a realist direction after seeing the art of Edward Hopper.  Since 1983 Koch has had thirteen residencies in Hopper’s Cape Cod painting studio in S. Truro, Massachusetts. On display is a selection of paintings of the interior of the Cape Cod Hopper studio Koch painted on location.

Inkternal showcases the recent work of New York City based artists Sky Pape and Kari Lindstrom. Working within the historical context of sumi ink brush painting, the artists’ practices reflect clarity, simplicity, and contemplation. The resulting abstract images speak to our internal and external nature. Pape moves the material in new directions, and Lindstrom experiments by drawing with innovative technology.

Joyce Kanyuk, will present her solo exhibition “People and Places in Watercolor” at the Piermont Fine Arts Gallery.  Featured in this exhibit are paintings of her travels in the Mideast and Mexico as well as New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Cape Cod, and Rockland County.  Through the use of bright transparent washes of watercolor Joyce transports the viewer to her favorite places. People in these paintings are portrayed as part of the landscape, while working or playing.  Gallery hours: Thurs, Sun, 1-6:00 pm, Fri, Sat, 1-9:00 pm

Anger, Daves, and Trischka, a dynamic bluegrass trio joins forces to perform NEW Bluegrass that is explosive and blazing with an urban edge @ ROCA’s first outdoor festival! These virtuosos of modern root music have helped drive the evolution of Americana music through their involvement (in different configurations) with ensembles such as the Republic Of Strings, the Turtle Island String Quartet, the David Grisman Quintet, Punch Brothers, Montreux, Psychograss, and others. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. In the event of rain the concert will be held inside.

Host of the newly revamped legendary talent competition “Apollo Live,” airing on Centric this Fall 2012, a cameo in the number one box office film “Think Like a Man,” TV appearances on BET’s “Let’s Stay Together” and Vh-1’s “Single Ladies,” “The Royal Comedy Tour” and “No Sleep Till Brooklyn Tour,” starring in a straight to DVD film “C’mon Man,” out June 2012, and the year just started for actor/comedian Tony Rock. Being the brother of an established entertainer, Tony was able to successfully elude the shadows of his older sibling and step into his own limelight. Tony has proven himself as one of the most talented, well-respected entertainers in the business. After more than a decade of experience, Tony has proven himself as a skillful comedian, actor, and executive producer. Tony landed the Jada Pinkett Smith/Will Smith pilot for UPN “All of Us” and appeared as a recurring character in the TV hit series “Everybody Hates Chris”. Tony also found comfort on the big screen, playing roles in movies such as Will Smith’s, “Hitch” , “Three Can Play That Game” alongside Vivica A. Fox, and “Life Support” with veteran entertainer Queen Latifah. Tony stepped into the role as executive producer on projects such as The Funny Spot and The Tony Rock Project, both of which he also served as host.
